Buying books—whether physical copies or ebooks—can quickly pile up in cost, leaving your reading list feeling a little lighter than you’d like. But what if there was an easy way to find great reads at unbeatable prices delivered straight to your inbox every day? Let me introduce you to BookBub—a platform that can revolutionize the way you shop for ebooks.

What is BookBub?

BookBub is a platform founded in 2012. You can sign up to get recommendations for discounted books straight to your inbox. It’s free to use and you can use it with different e-readers, such as Amazon KindleRakuten Kobo, and Nook. You can also find links to Apple Books and Barnes & Noble. On the first page of BookBub, the promise is to read the biggest ebooks for up to 95% off.

BookBub is not owned by Amazon, but sometimes recommended books have a comment from Goodreads.

Getting Started

Getting started with BookBub only takes a couple of minutes. First sign up for an account. Once the account has been created and verified, it’s time to sign in.

When you’ve logged in to BookBub, it’s time to set your preferences telling the platform what kind of genres you like to read. You can also set what kind of recommendations you wish to be sent.

While the promise is books for up to 95% off, one of the best things I know right now is that sometimes the discount is 100%. Yep, you heard that right. You can get some books for free, and it’s not just classics or old books.

There are also newer ones that are, if not free, then at least heavily discounted. Many of the links go back to Amazon, so if you own a Kindle like I do, it’s perfect for you. But you can get links that are outside Amazon as well if you prefer to read on a different kind of device.

Cheap Doesn’t Mean Bad

But if books are so cheap, are they only discounting or selling bad books? Not really. I think it’s, again, based on your preferences you get suggested content. I’ve read one or two so far. They were okay, and I haven’t been disappointed in them, no more than I would be at a regular library book.

If you are on the fence about buying a book, or you see a book that you might have wanted to read or own, then getting it at a heavily discounted price? Well, what’s not to like?

What Type of Books Can You Find?

Not only does BookBub offer a wide range of genres, but it also makes sure you never miss out on deals with its daily email updates. As far as categories go, BookBub covers plenty of them. You can access most genres of both fiction and nonfiction. Below you can see some of the categories you can sign up for.

You get an e-mail each day with ebook deals, but once a week or so you also get an e-mail with suggestions for new releases at a discount. While the daily e-mail gives you suggestions, it also mentions how long the discounted price will last. This is usually a couple of days from when you receive the e-mail.

Is It Too Good to Be True?

Since discovering BookBub, I have added plenty of books to my library. My problem right now is not downloading more ebooks than I have a chance to start. A pleasant problem for sure.

While the platform offers a wide variety of genres, it’s worth noting that there isn’t a dedicated ‘self-help’ section. If self-help books are your priority, you might find other platforms more suited to your needs.

Since discovering BookBub, I’ve added countless ebooks to my library—more than I can realistically start reading anytime soon! It’s a delightful problem to have. If you’re passionate about ebooks and saving money while growing your collection, BookBub is worth exploring. Sign up today to find your next favorite read at an unbeatable price—delivered straight to your inbox!
